Project Management & Marketing

LA County Wellbeing Line

Los Angeles County has thousands of first responders and care professionals continuing to serve in the field during pandemic response and recovery efforts. Continuing to work in overburdened systems of care can create moral distress, anxiety, and other wellbeing challenges. To help prevent undue mental health pressures on first responders, the LA County Department of Mental Health launched a Wellbeing Line in partnership with UCLA. We led the project team responsible for ideating and implementing the Wellbeing Line and assisted with direct marketing strategies.

Context:

LA County First Responders don't have a single centralized source for resource navigation, which is part of what the wellbeing line was intended to solve. However, that very problem meant we had to get creative to increase awareness of the line and the support it provides.

We led a team of county employees, community partners, and vendors to design an experience and message that would motivate people to reach out. We also developed a grassroots campaign providing communications advice to agency partners, encouraging them to share in their departments and communities.

The result? More LA County employees and first responders received emotional support to get them through challenging moments in the field. One caller, we'll call him Marco, shared, "I'm excited for life again. This made more of a difference than you know."

Communications, marketing and design are often the last tools people think of when doing social impact work, however, they can be a critical lever that help get more people connected to your services and programs.
